Pending approval from the league, the Marlins are set to send Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, Jose Reyes, John Buck, Emilio Bonifacio, and 4M to the Jays for Henderson Alvarez, Yunel Escobar, Adeiny Hechavarria, Jeff Mathis, Anthony DeSclafani, Justin Nicolino, and Jake Marisnick.
The perennially mediocre Blue Jays now have a chance to compete is a ridiculous AL East. They now have 4 solid starters (Romero, Morrow, Buehrle, Johnson) and have improved their lineup with an outstanding leadoff hitter in Jose Reyes. Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion must be licking their chops with the likes of Lawrie and Reyes setting the table.
Miami being who they are, backloaded contracts in a one off attempt to make the playoffs. Once that went bust, they were able to dump a ton of salary in order to cheap out once again.
The Jays do not seem to be finished dealing as there are numerous trade rumours regarding one of Johnson or Buehrle being flipped, possibly along with J.P. Arencibia.
